We’ve tried everything. We’ve worked in both the public and private sectors – from Kent to Cornwall to the Highlands of Scotland. We’ve worked in regeneration, strategic planning, development control, economic development, project evaluation and management – we’ve even had a go at panel beating.
But, as of January 2007, we found ourselves in a pub in Inverness deciding that what the world really needed was a new consultancy that puts the focus on providing high quality planning, regeneration and project management services to a select range of lucky clients. On reflection, in the cold light of day, we still thought that it was a good idea.
So, we set out to create a business that works for our clients – and ourselves. We take on projects and clients that interest and inspire us – if we’re honest, we’ve got to the point where we don’t do what we don’t want to. That means that the projects we do decide to work on are very important to us.
And what about being based in Berwick-upon-Tweed and Canterbury? What does that tell you? Well, it should tell you that we’ve got the whole of the United Kingdom covered – and that we like to spend more time at work than travelling to work. It should also tell you that we don’t charge big city prices for top quality services and that we’ve got our life/work balance sorted out. Oh yes, it should also tell you that we are passionate about our adopted home towns and we want you to visit them....
And, no – we’re not going to tell you how we came up with the name. Not unless you commission us....
We once heard a consultant from an established practice boast to a prospective client that his company’s track record “spoke for itself”. Well ours doesn’t. And that doesn’t mean we’re not good – it just means we’re not complacent. Sure, you’ll be interested in what we’ve done elsewhere – but we think you’re more likely to be interested in what we propose to do for you.
We’ll start by taking an interest – understanding your situation and your requirements. And if we can’t do it for you, we’ll tell you.
By the way, that consultant we mentioned at the top? He didn’t get the job.
